India So Far: A Picture Book

After arriving in Delhi Monday night,

DSC_0130

we drove on the wrong side of the road in a bus labeled "TOURIST" to Hotel Kaneshka. We
woke up to the noisy streets of Delhi and a scavenger hunt challenge,

which included changing money with Abdul.

This only takes 30-45 minutes and a cup or two of chai to see your rupees and passports returned. From then we toured around by train,

metro,

in cars,

and rickshaws,

jeremy! this is a wonderful introduction to India! you have a great eye!

Jeremy,

Hi, I just returned from my meeting in California. Your pictures are great, you are doing very well as a photographer, keep it up for all of our sakes.

While in CA I went on an extended field trip with Dan Roby and company to see some National Wildlife Refuges in CA that are important to waterbirds (seabirds, shorebirds, and waterfowl). I was amazed and depressed, all of these refuges were not natural, like we have here in Alaska, rather, there were reclaimed salt works and other areas like that which were a series of diked ponds with water. But there is so little water in SoCal that these areas are extremely important to the birds.

I would be interested if you kept track of the "wild" areas you see in India, and if they are naturally wild or reclaimed from some sort of industry in the past. I look forward to talking to you soon.

Love Dad

Hey, this is Mirise. I was a member of the Global LAB trip to India in the Fall of 2008. I was feeling nostalgic and decided to look through the most recent blogs and it looks like you guys are having so much fun! These pictures are awesome; it brings me right back :) I hope you guys are having the time of your life... I can honestly say that I continue to pull insight from my experience in India with Global LAB throughout some of the hardest, and most wonderful, days still. This is an experience you guys will keep with you forever... Make the most of it.
Wishes of epiphany, peace, happiness, and love to all of you travelers, and Namaste to Peter! Glad to see you're still working with GLAB :)
Love Always,
Mirise

Wow.. Awsome pics.. Looks like everyone is having a great time. Look forward to more pics.. More of Haley Hoff!!!

Jeremy,
Thank you for posting all the wonderful pictures. It is so fun to see all the amazing sites. Haley usually smiles more in pics, must have been the sickness :) Good to hear that you are all enjoying yourselves and making the most of your adventures in India! Alaska has gotten warmer so Mt. Alyeska is too slushy and they shut down all the high traverse areas due to avalanche warnings so you are not missing any ski adventures here :)
