There will be plenty of time to discuss these, and many other possibilities, in depth with your program leaders, but it would be good for you to start thinking about which of these options might be of most interest:
Dharmasala ISP Options
Learn various styles of cooking: North Indian, South Indian, and/or Tibetan
Study and practice a variety of therapeutic massage styles: Tibetan, Traditional, Ayurevedic
Learn Himalayan Jewelry Making
Learn a traditional instrument: Tabla (Indian drums), Classical Nepalese Flute
Study alternative and traditional medicine and healing practices: Reiki, Auryevedic medicine and diet, Tibetan medicine, herbal medicine
Study and practice traditional types of yoga
Study and create traditional Tibetan (thanka) paintings
Volunteer Work and Possible ISP Options
Conversation partner with monks and nuns learning English
Painting at the Old People's Home (always in great need)
Teaching at Tong-Len (a charitable home and school for impoverished children)
Volunteer at the Environment Center
Mural painting at the local preschool
